COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course follows the California History Social Studies Content Standards and the California State Framework. This course is designed to blend theoretical and pragmatic approaches to the study of politics. These approaches will focus upon the origins and operation of international, national, state, and local government. In addition, a strong emphasis will be placed upon knowledge of the origins and development of our federalist and republican form of government. Furthermore, a focus on democratic values in the relationship to student responsibilities will be implemented.
