COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course follows the California History Social Studies Content Standards and the California State Framework with an emphasis on modern World History. The intent of this course is to illustrate the diversity and similarity of civilizations and cultures throughout history; and shows how such cultural differences and resemblances are relevant to students today. An emphasis will be placed on the development of democratic ideals, Industrial Revolution, Russian Revolution, World War I & II, Cold War, Modern World problems, and the integration of the humanities into the curriculum, i.e. art, music, and literature. Students can expect to learn through collaborative work, group discussions, and project-based learning.
