Beginning Sculpture introduces students to three-dimensional art-making, focusing on form, space, texture, and balance. Using a variety of materials such as clay, wire, plaster, wood, paper, and found objects, students will develop foundational skills in sculptural techniques, including additive, subtractive, and assemblage methods.

Through hands-on projects, students will explore the elements and principles of design as they apply them to sculpture. They will learn to analyze, critique, and discuss their own work and the work of others using discipline-specific vocabulary. Connections with historical and contemporary sculptors will provide students with cultural and conceptual context for their creations.
