This course helps students develop competency in speaking, listening, reading and writing, with primary emphasis on oral communication and interpretative comprehension. Along with grammatical structures, this class will focus on exploring the cultures and customs of the Spanish-speaking world, from Mexico and Central America to South America to Spain. Since Spanish is the official language for 21 countries, students will have exposure to other cultures and varying accents through the utilization of audio and videos. This class will rely heavily on project-based learning, so there will be multiple group and solo presentations. Various activities help focus the student on cultural similarities as well as differences. A variety of communicative, multimedia, audio and video techniques provide students with opportunities to learn the language in many exciting and interesting real-life contexts.
