COURSE DESCRIPTION: ELD 1 is a comprehensive English language development course for ELs who are in the beginning stage of English language acquisition. The course focuses on the learning of social language necessary for daily interactions as well as on the academic language needed for success in school. The course focuses on foundational reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills necessary for ELs to progress in their English language proficiency and to meet the criteria for transition and/or reclassification.
